Luckily, there's a new official version that, despite being based on WhatsApp's web app, lets you use it directly as if it was just another app, without the need to open a browser.
Although there is a way to enjoy your favorite chat app right from your Mac, WhatsApp Web's biggest drawback is that you can only use it from a web browser.
